At closure of the ITU Telecom World 2016 Big Data & Health Young Innovators Challenge,  49 applications were  from 25 countries. Two  (2) winners have been announced by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) , one of which is a Ghanaian.

Mr. Raindolf Owusu’s Bisa Health Application from Ghana is one of the two winners.

He developed a mobile application that allows users with a smart phone ( Android , & ios ) to interact directly with medical practitioners without having physical contact; an advantage to people who have health concerns but are shy to talk to a doctor face to face about. His technology team works with 12 doctors and health experts.

The data gathered in Bisa (the twi translation of ‘ask’) will be mined by health professionals to help predict trends of illnesses and the Bisa will be sustained by advertisement of health insurance providers and health products manufactures which funds will help sustain Bisa.

The announcement was made on ITU website and social media pages . He was awarded during the ITU Telecom World 2016 in Bangkok, Thailand this November. He was represented by Dr Dennis Addo. The chief Medical Officer of Bisa.

ITU is the United Nations specialized agency for information and communication technologies – ICTs.
